The Royal William, Cranham

Oh what a shame!
Before you read this post you should read my last one on this venue. It was great.
We decided to re-visit this place because our local pub was so crowded and yet again minimal bar staff so we couldn't get served.

The Good

Friendly staff
Good choice of menu
Homemade Faggots
Fantastic local cheeses
Ample car parking

The Bad

The lack of imagination of the chef...stir fried vegetables turned out to be circles of carrots and broccoli...carrots circles in a stir fry...how strange is that??
The small child who was being encouraged by her family to get louder and louder (it was after 8pm)
Member of staff back to employing students who was either over the top efficient or down right rude when blatantly talking about us, facing us and making eye contact while doing so ( I am very very good at lip reading!)

The Food

Chicken & Chorizo with stir fried vegetables
Homemade Faggots with new potatoes carrot cirlces and broccoli
Local produced cheese 'n' biscuits served with grapes
Sticky toffee and pecan pudding served with ice cream

Note to self....find new places to eat out!

I have been going to the Royal william for years and have used their Cranham suite for many functions including my wedding and birthday parties. I recently had my three daughters christened and although under new management, had faith in their ability to cater for the reception. I was told by the manager to order for ten less people than I had actually invited due to the size of their buffets. Unfortuanately the buffet they provided was pitiful and at least ten of my guests had no food at all. I Payed £6.50 a head and was truly dissapointed. We called the next day to complain and the were told by the manageress that there was noone higher to complain to and nothing would be done about it. What a shame to have spoilt what should have been a very happy day. I will never use them again and would not reccomend them to anyone.

Well, what can I say. These comments have been left by two people who clearly prefer the Brewers Fayre style. We have reviewed this site and gave it a classy 9/10. We also reviewed their buffet and ordered the right amount of food for the right amount of people (who did not over-indulge). Buffet was exceptional 10/10. It is also clear that the author doesn't like anyone who does not agree with her point of view. Won't suprise me to see this removed quickly. Make up your own mind and form you own opinion. I think they at least deserve some credit for what they done.

I find it hard to believe not enough food was catered for on the buffet, when i ate there last Christmas i could not fnish the main course as there was so much food on the plate. I recall having the turkey dinner, with approx 10 other items of food on the plate.
I also was there again in June, and again we had plenty of food between us. No one complained there was no enough food.
Im goping again this weekend and looking forward to my 1st Christmas dinner this year there. :o)
Perhaps 'anon' should leave there name and not hide behind anon. Who complains the day after eating out about the food?? You should have complained on the day, perhaps your guests could have been fed then.
